Georgia's Nursery
I'm so happy! Her room is finally done! I worked so hard putting it all together. It isn't super cute with a theme, specific colors or matching fabrics. However, there are so many special touches that make her room my favorite place to be. When I look at the glider I think about the late nights that I'll spend nursing her and it brings a big smile to my heart.
Some of the special items in her room include a prayer that my grandfather wrote, the crucifix that hung in my bedroom as a child, the quilt my grandmother made for Georgia, 4 Creole Cat prints from our artist friend in New Orleans, a medal my mom's neighbor brought back from Rome, a bank my friend Kristine painted for her in Mexico, a silver cup from my friend Carrie, and much more! Georgia is such a lucky little girl.
I can't wait to have her in her room!
(Oh, almost forgot to mention Daddy's contribution....making sure there was a radio to play Elton John on the ipod in the nursery. Gotta introduce her as soon as possible!)

T-Minus 4 weeks
Wow. I'm 36 weeks this week. It feels as though the time has flown by. I still have lots to do before Miss Georgia's arrival, but I have made some major progress. Her nursery is almost done. I'm waiting to post photos until we get a working glider and ottoman. (We have one, but it is being exchanged this week.) I'm also waiting for some new sheets to be delivered. Thank God for online ordering!! Everything is coming along. I think...
We attended our last baby class a couple weekends ago. We now know baby CPR and simple baby care. Again...I think. I still feel like I know nothing! It's all starting to get very real and very scary, I must admit. Per the advice of a very smart mama my age, I have maintained the mantra of the less I know, the better. I haven't read much and have stayed away from most baby websites. So far it's treated me well, but now that the birth is getting closer I'm not feeling very ready. I just hope my mom, aunt, and mom-friends don't mind a bunch of calls and emails from me asking for help!
My mom and grandmother both think I'm going to give birth early. I'll keep everyone posted!

An Evening to Remember

Well, Bill did it! He wrangled his way into meeting Elton John! And Billie Jean King. Bill has GUTS. He was DETERMINED to meet his hero. We have been to this charity tennis match two other times. Elton and Billie Jean host it at a different college each year. Last year they had it at LSU and this year it was American University. Ironic! We get the VIP tickets each year so we can go to the auction and see all the tennis stars and get close up to Elton, but we have never been able to meet him. Until this year. Bill has sent emails to the organizers, Billie Jean King's partner even (!), to try to get us into the photo area. No one said no, but no one said yet either. When Bill saw the corporate sponsors and big donators lining up for their photos with the cohosts, he got right in line like he was supposed to be there, too. I hung back, quite embarrassed and worried that he would get us kicked out. He was the last in line and as they were shutting down the photo op he went up to a woman and said how he had spoken to Ilana (Billie Jean's partner) about getting a photo taken. I still don't know why that worked, but it did. I guess if you look like you belong, people think you belong!
Bill pulled me into the line and we were escorted through a curtain to meet Billie Jean and Elton. We shook their hands and Bill told them how we go to this event every year. They were truly grateful for the support. Bill also made sure to tell Elton that we were at his album release concert in NYC last month for his new album with Leon Russell. That impressed both of them immensely and again they thanked us for our support. It really felt as though THEY were happy to meet US. Both were such class acts.
I can honestly say that I think this evening will, for Bill, rival our wedding day and the birth of his first child. I am not sure when he'll come down off of this high!!

I'm a Godmother Again!
I'm so excited to be godmother to my best friend's baby, Anna Blaine. The baptism was today down in Louisiana, so I wasn't able to travel since I'm 6 weeks away from giving birth. Anna did great and Kathleen made the day super special with family.
I'm so proud to be Anna's godmother. I'll make sure to have an extra special relationship with her and Mallory, my other godchild. Georgia already has built in friends with these two little ladies!

Local Baby Shower

My mom threw me a baby shower this past weekend. I never expected to laugh as hard as I did. It was more fun than I could have imagined. I also could not have imagined how generous and thoughtful my friends are. I feel so lucky and fortunate to have such wonderful people in my life. And in Georgia's life.
Thank you to all who made my shower such a special occasion! Thanks to my mom for all of her hard work putting it together. She did a great job. I'm so happy that she is in the area and can play such a big role in our lives! Thank you to all my great friends who live far away but managed to include themselves in the festivities. You are missed every day, but I am so thankful to have you all a phone call or email away.

Final Sonogram
We had the final sonogram today to make sure there are no concerns with the placenta. (It had previously been low-lying.) Thankfully all is well!! And, we got another confirmation that she is a girl. I had previously told Bill that I wanted to have a back-up boy name just in case.
We got some 4-D images of her. She was not cooperating and was rather shy, but we did get to see her HUGE cheeks, chin and mouth in the images.
Only 8 more weeks!
